Dr Botanicals: The Review

Okay, so anyone who knows me is aware of my undying love for all things skincare. Especially vegan, cruelty free skincare that works. When I stumbled across Dr Botanicals I admit I was skeptical (having bad skin, I always am when it comes to new skincare), but so far I can wholeheartedly say I am impressed.

Dr Botanicals boasts "quality and 100% natural skincare products" on their website (links will be below), and specialise in apothecary, which I later learnt was a more organic form of pharmaceuticals.

Founder Richard's father was a chemist, and was creating "innovative skin treatments" since 1958. In 2011 his son took inspiration and followed in his footsteps, creating the brand Dr Botanicals.

I was chuffed to bits when I became part of their reviewers club (!!) with free products sent to me over time, and money off other purchases I decide to make. Plus, it means I get to review some great new products, so I cannot fault this at all.

The first product I received was the Hemp Infused Natural Nutrition Moisturiser

It is recommended to apply the product after cleansing your face, and generally speaking you should always include a moisturiser in your skincare routine, no matter what kind of skin you have, find one that works for you. This moisturiser has a lovely light consistency, and doesn't feel greasy on the skin at all. It is a lovely light green colour, and the smell is subtle but fresh, and reminds me of a relaxing spa. Its soft and pretty quick absorbing which is nice, especially as someone who wears a fair amount of makeup, this would act as a great pre-primer base, locking in moisture for the day to keep your skin hydrated. My skin felt softer and smoother almost instantly, and I definitely will be keeping this as a staple in my vast collection of skincare.

Next was the Cocoa Noir Time Reverse Facial Serum

Now I was quite skeptical when I received this, as the name suggests more of an anti-aging product, which I don't really need at age 20. However, I read through some of the ingredients and their benefits, and quickly realised this could be useful to all ages and skin types. It includes Geranium Flower oil to sooth complexion and promote brightness and radiance, Sea Buckthorn Oil which is rich in antioxidants, and Neroli Oil which has long been used in aromatherapy and helps clear up skin. Serums have recently grown on me, and this is no exception. A beautiful sweeter fragrance partnered with a soft, smooth, fast setting serum really makes for a killer combo. my skin felt instantly smoother and refreshed, and it leaves minimal residue and stickiness which I personally appreciate.

These two products used in conduction as part of a full skincare routine honestly made me feel like I was in a spa in the middle of a forrest, letting my skin soak up all the natural goodness.

I truly believe skincare is such an important way of self loving, as well as physically taking care of your body. Treat yourself always, take that extra ten minutes out of your day to feel fabulous and soft and flawless, maybe even with some incredible new products recommended by an aspiring blogger.
