Now, anyone that follows my private instagram account will know (@mxgxnxj.priv, give it a follow) that I love all things skincare. Collecting all of these lush new products from L'Oréal became a fun little reward game during my second year at Exeter college. Whenever I did well in a test, assignment, exam, driving lesson or any other achievement, I would treat myself by purchasing one or two of these babies. It's a good motivation, I recommend it.
I purchased from Boots (often they did 2 for 1 deals or buy one get one half price, and I could use points from my point card to buy), or Superdrug (again, often have deals on and I could use my points card and student discount), depending on what shop I was closer to.
The Reviews
1. The Purple Soothing Mask
This one is fab for skin that isn't clear, but isn't in a massive breakout, if you know what I mean. Its great for calming skin and keeping it manageable. Its a cool mask, fairly thin and easy to apply. the scent is weak by pleasant, though it doesn't really smell of much. All in all, this is a really good day to day mask for just a chill night in, but while its nice to pamper yourself, it doesn't give massively noticeable results.
2. The Green Purity Mask
This mask also acts as a mattifying mask, which is perfect to use if you've got an event or night out planned as it creates a fab base for makeup. It smells quite earthy but clean (if that makes sense), and I really like that. Like the purple mask, its thin and easy to apply evenly. It also claims to purify the skin. I personally didn't see any noticeable 'purifying', but the matte effect I do enjoy.
3. The Black Detox Mask
This mask is one of my top two of the collection. It claims to detoxify and clarify, and I have to say I do feel changes in my skin immediately after use. You can really smell the clay in this mask, but again, it's not unpleasant. I found with all the clay masks that my skin did feel firmer after use, but this one really showed off. It's thicker than some of the other masks in the collection, but I assume that's because of what it does, so it understandable, and still easy to apply. I use this mask before a holiday or big event to really give my skin a detox and just make it feel tight and fresh, and as I said, I do see and feel results. This one I would recommend to anyone, as its an all round great mask that really boosts the skin.
4. The Blue Blemish Rescue Mask
This is my first mask I brought from the collection, and the reason I continued to buy them, hence why it is in my top 2. In my opinion, this is a great mask for a quick blemish fix. I recommend use at night, because after removal I did find some parts of my face a bit red, (I used a Liz Earle cloth and warm water to remove, then rinse, put the cloth in cold water and dab my skin) but after proper removal it goes down, and my skin feels so refreshed in the morning.
5. The Yellow Brightening Mask
This is the first mask in the original collection to use sand within the mask to act as an exfoliant. It also claims to tone and illuminate, and while I didn't see any groundbreaking changes when I used this mask, my skin did feel super soft and refreshed. I haven't played with this one that much yet, so maybe I'll update this post after another few uses. Either way, still a good mask.
6. The Red Glow Mask
This mask also features sand as an exfoliant. It claims to brighten and exfoliate, and after use I did notice my skin was so soft, but not really much noticeable brightening. Its a fairly thin mask, easy to use and rinse, but I pretty much got the same results from the red and yellow masks, so if you fancy purchasing this collection I'd recommend only getting one or the other, just choose your colour!
7. The Smooth Sugars Clear Scrub
Now, this is the first of the extended part of this mask collection, and I haven't got round to getting the others cause now I'm a broke uni student rather than a mildly broke college student. Uni is something else. Anyway, I've used this scrub once, and honestly? Its soooooo nice! Application is easy, its not painful, which some scrubs can be, and really feels like a spa experience. It smells nice and fruity, borderline citrus but not overpowering, and really fresh. The texture is gooey and sticky and lovely, and I'm obsessed. While this isn't technically a clay mask, (its a sugar scrub, clues in the name), it is still part of the L'Oréal collection and I LOVE it, fully deserving of its place in this review.
So, that's my full review on the L'Oréal Clay Mask Collection! If anyone has any recommendations of skincare brands/sets they'd be interested in seeing me review let me know!
